Peters Recreation Complex

The Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex is located on Olympic Drive, just east of the K-State football stadium near the intersection of Kimball and Denison Avenues.

Building features
The Peters Recreation Complex is fully accessible and includes:

  • 14 racquetball courts
  • two squash courts
  • two wallyball courts
  • three gyms that include:
    • 10 basketball courts
    • 12 volleyball courts
    • 6 badminton courts
  • multi-activity court (MAC) gym provides for indoor soccer, in-line hockey, and 3 courts convertible for basketball, volleyball or tennis use
  • one weight room
  • one functional weight training room
  • one circuit/stretching area
  • two cardio areas
  • combatives roomWeight Room
  • four group fitness and multi-use studios
  • one multipurpose room
  • private personal training studio
  • climbing wall and bouldering rock

Weight room and cardio deck
The south weight room and cardio deck has more than 25,000 square feet of cardiovascular machines and weight equipment. Cardiovascular equipment includes treadmills, stair climbers, bikes, and rowers while weight equipment includes free weights, dumbbells, selectorized machines, and plate-loaded machines.

Indoor tracksCardio Deck
Each indoor track is elevated and overlooks various areas of the Rec Complex. The track above the small gym measures 14 laps to the mile and accommodates both walkers and runners. The mall track has four lanes and is 1/5 of a mile around. Two inside lanes are designated for walking, and two outside lanes are for running.

Athletic trainers
During the academic year, athletic trainers are available to provide evaluation and treatment of sports-related injuries for participants at the Recreation Complex for scheduled intramural team sport events. Services include administering first aid and providing taping services and are available at no charge to students and facility use members.
