Pools at the Natatorium

Natatorium pool

The Natatorium is located adjacent to Ahearn Field House and includes two 25-yard pools and diving well with 1-meter diving boards. The Natatorium is fully accessible to all patrons.

Locker rentals are available through the LIFE office located in the Ahearn Complex. For locker pricing and information visit here.

Recreational swimming

The eight-lane swimming pool is designated for lap swimming. 


The six-lane recreation pool provides for all aquatic activities: water basketball, family swim,  swimming, and aqua group fitness.


The diving well is used for deep water jogging, aqua group fitness, and diving board use.


Safety guidelines for lightning/thunderstorms

The pools will reopen 30 minutes after the last lightning strike or sound of thunder. If within 30 minutes of Rec Services closing time, the pools will not reopen until the next shift.


Average Pool temperature

Water and air temperatures are established in the best interest of the majority of users. Approximate temperatures are:
8-lane pool: 78-83 degrees 
6-lane pool: 84-88 degrees 
Diving well: 82-86 degrees 
Air temperature: 85-88 degrees

Denote, the university facilities staff manages the temperature and upkeep of the Natatorium. 

Pool Parking

Parking permits are required Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-5 p.m.

Permits are available for purchase at K-State Parking Services, located on the ground floor in the parking garage at the K-State Student Union.

Metered parking is also available.

Parking Services manages all parking on campus, including regulations and enforcement. For more information about parking or to report problems with a meter, contact Parking Services at 532-7275.


Equipment available for use includes:

  • Aqua dumbbells
  • Basketballs
  • Flotation belts
  • Kickboards
  • Leg bouys
  • Noodles

Diving well schedule

To best accommodate all users of the diving well, the first hour of every shift will be used for water jogging. After this the diving boards have priority. 

All other times, including Saturday and Sunday, are on a first come, first-served basis.


Swim Club

Monday-Wednesday * 8:30-10 pm
*3 lanes only in the 8-lane pool

Lifeguard certification

Rec Services does not offer lifeguard certification classes. Contact University For Mankind (tryufm.org) for a list of classes available during the school year.
